Self Acceptance

December 20, 2020

I wrote this poem on November 29, 2020. I hope you enjoy:)

The audacity to believe in yourself.

To let go of your inhibitions,

Your self imposed limitations

To stand in front of the mirror and accept.

Accept fully.

Your individualities,

Your commonalities.

The complicated facets of you

That shine in ways no one else can.

That curve light in ways unexplained.

To embrace,

Fully embrace,

The way your voice sounds when you sing.

Your unique laugh and smile.

The wrinkles around your eyes,

Remember.

Sit in your memories,

As only you can.

As only your perspective will allow,

The map you’ve drawn of your happiest days

Moments you can’t talk about without tears

The profound sadness of saying goodbye

And the thundering waves of a lonely beach.

Fall in love with your life.

The totality of it.

Let yourself feel the profundity

And the benign.

Live with a resounding kindness,

And critical thought over skepticism

Be young, be old, be merry, be neutral.

Just be.

Be exactly who you are.

And know it is enough.
