The world was still.
Yet we found time to laugh
Connect to those we hadn't
And teach our children math
The world was still.
Yet we cooked ourselves meals
Used less, wasted less
Allowed the Earth to heal
The world was still.
And it was tragic and painful
There was fear and anguish
A collective upheaval
The world was still.
Yet our lives were fuller
Leisure time together
Our boredom turned to wonder
The world was still.
But the lights still twinkled
We knew we'd bloom brighter
When time was unwrinkled
The world was still.
There was loss, there was pain
And a resounding belief
We would rebuild again
The world was still.
And it made us aware
That this life is a gift
We should handle with care.
